Spring's Repeat
Some violets in the woods
I only saw these two
They stretched their hairy necks
To show their heads of blue
They did not like this winter
So cold and wet and long
But now it's time to show themselves
And charm us with their song
You did not know these flowers sing
A song that ears can't hear?
Oh, yes!
They tell the woods and us to live again
Again this time of year

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful poem!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty they look and I enjoyed the poem. Sure hope they are right and that this long, long winter is finally coming to an end.

Loved it. Heralding the coming of spring!
ReplyDeleteVery nice little poem. Let's hope winter will leave soon, and more violets will welcome warmer spring weather.
ReplyDeleteI like the poem. Rumors here say spring should arrive before April. Not so optimistic we heading for Fort Myers to watch the Twins in spring training. Hope to see some spring there as well. :)
ReplyDeleteThey're blooming now??? I love violets, we have them and wild strawberries on our property and I love seeing them when they're in bloom. Your poem is wonderful! I wish I could do that.
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem, W2W! Oh yes, I've heard the flowers sing, and I will be singing along with them as soon as they appear here.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your poem and accompanying photo. I blog about spring flowers sometimes, the violet among them. Did you know their seeds are spread by ants? Surely you did. I have a young friend with an interesting idea. Please go to http://postcardpoem.blogspot.com and check it out! I think it might be right up your alley! Thanks, ~karen
ReplyDeleteThat was a very fun poem!
ReplyDeleteIt has been delightful catching up with you this evening.

Hello.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful flower and a lovely poem! It must be much warmer in Florida because violets are in bloom! I love violets. The violets in my backyard have begun to put forth new tiny reddish shoots! They'll bloom in late April.
I enjoyed your newest post too! The musclewood looks so cool!
Thank you everyone! The violets must have infected me with spring fever because I've been lazy with the blog lately and anxious to get outside. Yesterday was so beautiful that I spent three whole hours in the vegetable garden planting various things. Now there's a nice soaking rain tonight. Ahh!
