What Drives You?

Daughter knows this song by the group Incubus quite well. I keep bugging her to play it for me when she picks up the guitar, which isn't often enough in my opinion. We usually sing together, but we've never tried the whistling bit shown on this video. Her grandpa would have loved that part. Maybe when she gets home. This weekend she is off visiting friends and family from where we used to live near Pensacola. Her 29th birthday is next week, and I remember the moment that made it all possible, Daughter-Mine. It's what drives me.

  1. Hi w2w,

Thank you for sharing a nice music clip. The music, lyrics, the group are all so cool. I like it.
Someone said something like "being obsessed with fear could turn out to be a self fulfilled prophecy", if I remember correctly. I believe things will go toward in the best direction if my mind truly believes it.
Happy birthday to your loved one!

  2. Though this is not our style of music, we also enjoy music of western origin. I used to find the sound of guitar strings inspiring..thanks fr making this song and Incubus band familiar to me...

  5. Happy Birthday to your Daughter! My older daughter (child #3) will turn 30 in a few weeks--it seems like yesterday she was a little pig-tailed tomboy getting into all kinds of mischief.

  6. You're right, Cosmos, a positive attitude never hurts, though it's difficult to maintain. Music is one of those things that really helps.

Glad you like it, Tomz. I'd like to hear some of your favorite music sometime.

Leigh, it's important to encourage any kind of interest in music, sometimes just letting your kids experiment with different instruments and lessons. I never learned to play anything, but I do enjoy singing along, sometimes even whistling.

Julie, tell your son happy birthday for me. Lots of birthdays coming up soon in this family.

Rose, this does seem to be the time of year for many birthday celebrations. There's just something about those cold winter nights in Illinois...
