A to Z Blogging Challenge: P is for Putting Things in Perspective...but Which One?

P is for Putting Things in Perspective...but Which One?
It's been a while since I last posted...or commented anywhere. Please forgive me!

Moving is a real pain. But that's just my perspective. It comes from experience. In the nearly 51 years of my lifetime, I've moved on average about every two years. You would think I'd be used to it by now. Nope.

I'm too much a creature of habit. I like for things to stay the same. It's comforting to have things in order. I can't stand chaos. All this talk of change--expect it, embrace it--makes me think that the people who insist on it for everyone else won't be playing by the same rules. Things will stay the same for them while the rest of us get moved around like pieces in a game of chess.

I should let my thoughts lay down like the wind does almost every evening. Put the boxes aside for a while. Watch the game from the sidelines. Plan my next move. The first part is over. Now on to the next one. All work and no play...

  1. I hate moving too. It is so challenging in so many different ways. The only way I survive is to imagine a date a month after the scheduled move. I visualize myself sitting in my favorite chair in a completely organized "new" house. I feel peace. This visualization helps me keep moving forward through the chaos of moving.

  2. When my husband was in the service we use to move - lots. I do not envy you. The challenge is always, "where did I put that for what seems like forever! All three of your photos are lovely, too.
I'm sad to say that I am a really forgetful and though I schedule things daily I'm not always so regimented and tend to go with the flow.

  3. I hope things will settle down for you soon, and here's hoping you'll stay in this new place longer than two years.
Best of luck to you for this move.

  4. I must confess, I cry a little every day I'm home getting ready for our move. Never more so than this week--spring break. Where we spend every day down at the beach, and I read updates from my midwestern friends about freezing rain. sigh. This too shall pass~ ((hugs))

  5. I wish you ease with your packing and un-packing. In no time at all you will be settled and enjoying your beautiful new surroundings.

  6. You have done more moving that I would care to do. Moving is a chore indeed. Hope you get relatively settled in soon.

  8. I absolutely hate moving, but then we haven't moved that often, so I'm not very practiced in it. The last time (and I hope it was the last time!) we moved, we had lived in the same house for 26 years--do you know how much stuff you can accumulate in 26 years??!

Congratulations on finding a house! I hope the moving process goes smoothly for you.

  9. Moving every 2 years! I thought, wow, that is a lot of moving until I counted all the places I have lived in my 25 years together with my hubby. We have lived in 12 different dwellings. That about averages to moving every 2 years as well. Ha, funny since we have lived in this house for the past 9.5 years! We moved every year there for a while and it was a challenge for sure. But one has to do what one has to do to survive in this world. One trick we had was to not accumulate a lot of “stuff”. After living in this place for so long and accumulating lots of “Stuff”, I fear the day we have to move from here. Yikes, moving often kept the clutter to a minimum for sure...

  10. I'm yet to meet someone who loves moving. I've moved 4 times in the last 6 years, just finished my last one...I f understand what you're talking about. It is always stressful, and I have to try hard to make a new home out of a bare walls each time.
